Youngeun Museum of Contemporary Art presents Wheiza Kim’s solo exhibition 《Psychological Scenery: Homage to Tree Soul》. Through a spiritual communion with nature, Kim reads stories that remain unseen and conveys them through her paintings.

Over the course of many years, trees in the forest have recorded and preserved their souls within their unique grain. Deeply attuned to these traces, Kim reflects her own mind upon them and creates drawings that resonate with their forms. She further constructs three-dimensional structures by cutting and joining pieces of wood, creating spaces in which these stories can dwell.

Through the use of moving images, she also explores the possibilities of expanding painting into other artistic forms, while offering viewers an opportunity to quietly contemplate their inner selves.

Throughout her many years living abroad, Kim continually reflected on her identity as a Korean artist. In this meditative forest, created through her communion with nature and sustained patience, she invites viewers to contemplate the diverse stories of our lives, as varied as the grain of trees.
